Uterine Artery Doppler

Mr Anoop Rehal, Fetal Medicine Consultant performs uterine artery doppler measurements. This diagnostic checks the flow of blood within the uterine arteries.

The blood flow in the vessels will indicate whether the baby will grow to its full potential. This check also indicates whether there is a risk of pre-eclampsia developing. Pre-eclampsia is high blood pressure in pregnant women.

The arteries within the uterine area are seen as vessels along the side of the cervix.

Umbilical Artery Doppler

Mr Anoop Rehal performs umbilical arterial ( UA ) doppler assessments. He does this to assess the fetal well being and to rule out plecental insufficiency and also to look at potential growth restriction and pre-eclampsia.

Umbilical arterial (UA) Doppler assessment is used in surveillance of fetal well-being in the third trimester of pregnancy. Abnormal umbilical artery Doppler is a marker of placental insufficiency and consequent intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) or suspected pre-eclampsia.

The Umbilical Artery Doppler assessment is included in our Anomaly and Growth and Welbeing scans.
