Full Abdominal and Pelvis Ultrasound Scan

At MUMS we offer Full Abdominal and Pelvis Ultrasound Scan to patients aged 16 and over.

MUMS highly experienced radiographers and sonographers perform full abdominal and pelvic ultrasound scans. This diagnostic is safe, non-invasive, and reliable. Bouncing sound waves off your body's tissues and organs – our clinicians can see detailed images to examine your abdominal and pelvic regions to look for the presence of abnormalities and diagnose pain or distention (enlargement). The procedure takes around 30-40 minutes. Using ultrasound to assess the abdominal and pelvic area helps clinicians identify conditions before they become serious or unmanageable. Abdominal and pelvic ultrasound examines all areas of the full abdominal area and the organs to include:

  • Liver
  • Gall Bladder
  • Pancreas
  • Spleen
  • Kidneys
  • Appendix
  • Bladder
  • Urinary tract
  • Abdominal Aorta
  • Uterus
  • Ovaries

Reasons for having an abdominal and pelvic ultrasound scan include:

  • Abdominal pain, bloating, discomfort
  • Abnormal liver function tests and other blood tests
  • Polyps, cysts, and fibroids in the pelvis
  • Kidney/Pelvic pain
  • Blood in the urine and bladder issues including cystitis
  • Detect tumours & cancers

There is no need for a referral – you can self-refer for peace of mind.

Our chaperone assistants will provide you with modesty sheets for your dignity. Gel is used to glide the transducer and pictures and measurements of the full abdominal and pelvic area are taken by the clinician.

You will be given a detailed report that you can give to your referring clinician and a copy will be in your MUMS electronic medical record should you wish to consult with any of MUMS clinicians, Private GPs and Specialist Consultants.

The cost of Full Abdominal and Pelvic Ultrasound is £330.00
