MUMS offer PRP ( Platelet-Rich Plasma ) for hair restoration at our state-of-the-art clinic in Solihull. Dr Kiran Singh – Private GP - is fully qualified to deliver this treatment to combat hair loss which affects one’s confidence, self-esteem and can cause anxiety.
The way in which this treatment works – is - Dr Kiran takes a sample of your blood from your arm and spins it - to separate the blood from the serum and platelets. The PRP works by stimulating the hair follicles following lots of small injections in the scalp which contain PRP. This causes the scalp to repair and generate new tissue, which in turn creates new cell growth. The hair growth improvement begins following the first session because your hair follicles are invigorated, and any dormant hair follicles come alive again and flourish.
Although an individual treatment will produce results – it is recommended to have at least 2 or 3 sessions for optimal hair growth. Like a lot of therapeutic aesthetic treatments, there are no guarantees and that is why we recommend a pre-treatment consultation in the first instance – so that you can trust the expert – Dr Kiran – to give you a fully informed consultation before you embark on this treatment. Dr Kiran will also advise how many sessions you will need to obtain meaningful results as each case is individually assessed.
Results are noticeable after about four weeks but because of the hair growth cycle, we recommend spacing sessions four to six weeks apart for the optimal 3–4-month hair restoration from PRP. Patients with androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata benefit from PRP and it is suitable for both men and women.
PRP is recommended for menopausal women who suffer hair loss – to stimulate the scalp and repair damage that hormone deficiency causes.
Male and Female Pattern Baldness patients can benefit from PRP as damaged hair follicles are repaired.
Males and Females with thinning hair see vast improvements with PRP.
MUMS patients are very pleased with the results of their platelet rich plasma treatment. PRP is not suitable for heavy smokers or heavy drinkers or those that take recreational drugs. The treatment is safe and effective for hair loss sufferers.

Once you have consented to the treatment, Dr Kiran will apply numbing treatment to the scalp areas that are to be injected. The numbing cream takes 45 mins to work. Your blood will be taken and spun during this time. The blood is separated from the plasma in a centrifuge and then the plasma is injected into your scalp. It is preferred that you attend with 6 french braids or separated partings where you want the treatment specifically - but this is not essential.
PRP is used widely in aesthetics, not just for scalp rejuvenation but it is also used for:
