Food Allergy Testing at MUMS

Having an Allergy Test to see if you have a particular food allergy/sensitivity/intolerance at MUMS Solihull is easy. We offer simple blood tests but can combine several different foods together to make a profile to give you a bigger picture of what type of food you may be allergic to or intolerant of.

You may choose to have this test within a GP Consultation to discuss your history and symptoms.

The consultation with our experienced GPs is £100.00. The GP will perform the allergy blood test and explain the results to you.

You may choose to have a simple £30.00 phlebotomy appointment in which to be tested for the Food Allergy Test. However – if the results are showing abnormalities, then you will need a GP consultation to have the results explained to you.

For children under 16 years old you will need to book in with our Specialist Consultant Paediatrician for a consultation and allergy testing. The cost of a consultation with the Paediatrician is £235.00 plus the cost of the test. Dr Vijay Iyer is MUMS Consultant Paediatrician.

Our private GPs and Consultant Paediatrician – are highly experienced in dealing with food intolerance testing and allergy testing. They are also trained in interpreting the results. Recently – they were trained in the interpretation of ALEX2 which tests for over 300 allergens.

The Food Allergy Test costs £310.00

The Food Allergy Test includes common allergens such as :

• Codfish
• Cow’s Milk
• Egg White
• Egg Yolk
• Kiwi
• Peanut
• Sesame
• Soya
• Wheat

The results are back in 2 days.

You may wish to know if you are intolerant or allergic to any of the above.

You may not know what you are allergic to and want to find out to avoid any of the above.

A lot of people have a reaction to certain food types. For example, digestive problems such as abdominal pain and bloating or skin problems such as rashes and hives. There is a difference between intolerance and allergies, but they are both unpleasant. It is best to note/keep a diary of what you have eaten so that when you have a reaction you have a better chance of narrowing down what it might be. If you have a strong reaction, you should seek medical advice. At MUMS – our Private GPs consult with you and take a full history and examination and help you manage your allergies and intolerances by eliminating what it is your body does not like.

If you suffer from bloating or abdominal pain or diarrhoea following certain foods or have skin sensitivities and develop itching or rashes or hives – although these can be caused by other factors such as stress and IBS – they could be due to some of the foods listed above that you should avoid.

Remember that food intolerance and food allergies are two very different things.

This FOOD combination test contains a wide range of different types of foods to give our GPs and you a good idea as to what it is that is causing your allergic symptoms or your intolerance.
