Allergy Testing

MUMS private GPs can advise and diagnose and treat many allergens.

If you think you might be suffering from an allergy, you can have your symptoms diagnosed at MUMS. Diagnosing an allergy will usually involve having a blood test. We can confirm any personal suspicions you have regarding any common substances you might be allergic to such as nuts, cereal, dust or pet hair.

We provide an extensive range of tests to give you the information you need to make clear decisions about what is safe to eat and what substances you should avoid contact with.

During a consultation, a doctor will discuss your symptoms with you and take a sample of your blood. This blood sample will then be sent to our lab for testing and analysis by an immunologist. Blood allergy tests measure the number of antibodies in blood that have been produced by the immune system in response to a suspected allergen.

You may choose to have this test within a GP Consultation to discuss your history and symptoms.

The consultation with our experienced GPs is £100.00. The GP will perform the allergy blood test and explain the results to you.

You may choose to have a simple £30.00 phlebotomy appointment in which to be tested for the Food Allergy Test. However – if the results are showing abnormalities, then you will need a GP consultation to have the results explained to you.

For children under 16 years old you will need to book in with our Specialist Consultant Paediatrician for a consultation and allergy testing. The cost of a consultation with the Paediatrician is £235.00 plus the cost of the test. Dr Vijay Iyer is MUMS Consultant Paediatrician.

Our private GPs and Consultant Paediatrician – are highly experienced in dealing with food intolerance testing and allergy testing. They are also trained in interpreting the results. Recently – they were trained in the interpretation of ALEX2 which tests for over 300 allergens.

The Food Allergy Test costs £310.00

The Food Allergy Test includes common allergens such as :

• Codfish
• Cow’s Milk
• Egg White
• Egg Yolk
• Kiwi
• Peanut
• Sesame
• Soya
• Wheat

The results are back in 2 days.

You can choose to be tested for single allergens, which cost from £65. There is a whole range of these, too broad to list here, but our GP will be able to discuss them with you.
